Description

This course provides solid training in the fundamentals of Oncology, with a strong component in the areas of biology, (epi)genetics and pathology, addressing the epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic dimensions of Cancer in light of current knowledge about its molecular bases. The course also intends to provide
students with the knowledge, skills and aptitudes necessary for the development of research activity in Oncology, namely biostatistics methods. Allied to the theoretical-practical component, students have privileged contact with the laboratory and clinical contexts.

This program presents levels of demand and excellence, with the supervision of clinical or translational research projects being carried out by professors and researchers in the field of Oncology of recognized national and international merit.

For whom?

Degree or legal equivalent in Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing, Psychology, Health Technologies and other degrees or legal equivalent in the area of ​​health sciences with an interest in oncology.

Why this master?

The course aims to contribute to a solid training based on current knowledge derived from basic and clinical research in Oncology. It addresses issues ranging from the development of cancer, its genetic linkage and the molecular basis of therapy.

Professional Opportunities

The Program is aimed at young graduates in the areas of biological and health sciences with motivation and ambition to develop skills to carry out fundamental, translational, and clinical research in Oncology.

Partnerships

Porto Comprehensive Cancer Center (Porto.CCC, a consortium established between IPO Porto and i3S) and RISE – Health Research Network (Associated Laboratory that brings together research units from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto and the Faculty of Medicine of Porto University of Lisbon, the Research Center of the IPO Porto and researchers from NOVA Medical School, the Porto School of Nursing and the University of Aveiro) which, in addition to other areas of human health, also includes a line of research in Oncological diseases, as well as laboratories of other organic units of the University of Porto.
