Description

The program aims to analyze health problems and identify the elements that characterize nursing care, focusing on the mobilization and recontextualization of nursing knowledge. It also aims to develop skills in the construction of nursing as a scientific discipline, promoting the interconnection of research and care practices, in order to foster healthy transitions (developmental, situational, health/disease, and organizational) and caregivers or groups, in the face of adaptive diseases caused by disease and other life processes.

Objectives

The specific objectives for the training of the doctoral student aim to meet the requirements of the legislation in force for the attribution of the Doctor’s degree, here integrated as follows:

  • Develop the ability to understand and systematize in a scientific domain of specialization in nursing sciences ;
  • Acquisition of scientific-technical skills and research methodology in nursing sciences;
  • Promote the ability to design, adapt and carry out high quality research in nursing science, based on ethical values ​​and academic integrity;
  • To ensure that the doctoral student’s work is widely disseminated and internationally recognized, especially through publications in reference and indexed forums;
  • Develop critical analysis, as well as the evaluation and synthesis of new and complex ideas;
  • Promote the ability and willingness to communicate with peers, the rest of the academic community and society in general about the area in which it specializes;
  • Foster the integration of the individual in a knowledge-based society, providing the trainee with increased capacities to help promote progress in various contexts. Admission Requirements

Holders of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or legal equivalent, holders of a particularly relevant academic, scientific or professional curriculum, which is recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies by the Program’s Scientific Committee. Holders of a Master’s degree or legal equivalent. Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies by the Scientific Committee of the Program. Among other requirements, the integration of a minimum of 1 original article (full length paper) in which the doctoral candidate is the 1st author, accepted or already published in an international journal of the specialty, is an absolute condition for the delivery and public defense of the Thesis.

The object of nursing study, which urgently needs to be specified, strengthened and delimited, therefore the doctoral program in nursing will have an essential aspect of a scientific nature, given that it is essential that doctoral students recontextualize their knowledge and knowledge in order to have a relevant role in multidisciplinary health teams, both in terms of design and practice of nursing care, research and teaching.
