Title: "The Remarkable History of Biomaterials"

Dr. Ratner’s research, starting in 1967, has focused on biomaterials, the materials used in medical devices, diagnostics and drug delivery systems. In addition, he has also concentrated on the study of the biointerface, the surface zone of materials and biological structures interacting with biological systems. His specific research interests include His research interests include biomaterials, medical devices, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, biocompatibility, polymers, the biointerface, surface analysis and plasma thin film deposition. Recent focus areas include kidney dialysis, blood compatibility, insulin delivery technologies, tendon implants and neurological-recording electrodes.
